What service does Air Algerié offer regarding minors?
Air Algérie offers the Unaccompanied Minor Service for children who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
What are the age restrictions on Air Algérie flights?
A child should be at least 5 years old in order to be able to travel alone on Air Algérie flights. Children under 5 years old are accepted for transportation only accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age or a brother or sister at least 16 years old.
Minors aged between 5 and 12 may travel alone as Unaccompanied Minors.
At the request of their parent/guardian, children aged 12 to 17 years may also travel as Unaccompanied Minors.
Unaccompanied Minor Service
Air Algérie allows children to travel alone only on direct flights. The request for this service should be made in advance because the number of Unaccompanied Minors is limited according to the type of aircraft. An extra fee will be charged for the Unaccompanied Minor service.
Minors who have not reached their 12th birthday will be accepted on board as Unaccompanied Minors if they meet the following conditions:
- The parent / guardian / responsible adult accompanies the child to the airport, presenting an evidence (discharge of responsibility) ensuring the airline that, upon arrival, another parent / guardian / responsible adult will be present there to pick up the child.
- The flight is not expected to terminate in any other conditions that those pre-established at the departure due to certain operational or weather problems.
From check-in, the child is cared for by Air Algérie staff all throughout its journey: in the departure terminal, through the control points (police formalities, customs, health, baggage claim), in the boarding lounge, in the arrival terminal, and until the arrival of the person responsible for collecting the child. It is recommended for the adult accompanying the child on departure to stay at the airport at least 30 minutes after the take-off of the plane.
