FrAre pets accepted on Air Caraibes flights?
Air Caraibes accepts the following pets at least 8 weeks old for transportation:
- In the passenger cabin – dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
- As checked baggage – dogs and cats (no French bulldogs).
Are advance arrangements required for pets to be accepted on Air Caraibes flights?
All pets require reservation at the time of booking the ticket. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have all the necessary travel documents required by the countries of departure, arrival, and transit, if applicable. Also, you are required to present at check-in:
- A certificate of good health of your animal dating from less than 5 days before the flight, on both the outward and return flights. Therefore, if your trip lasts more than 5 days, it will be necessary to present a new certificate of health for the return flight.
- Mandatory identification (tattoo or chip).
- Valid anti-rabies vaccination certificate, issued between one month and one year before the flight, mandatory for animals coming from Guyana, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, and other countries, with the exception of metropolitan France, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion.
Pets in the Passenger Cabin (PETC)
Cats and dogs must travel in an approved transport bag. Small rodents (rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs) must travel in a fiberglass or plastic box (sold in pet stores) for small rodents and are not accepted on codeshare flights with French bee. The container should not exceed maximum dimensions of 43 x 35 x 20 cm and a maximum weight of:
- 5 kg on regional flights.
- 8 kg on transatlantic flights.
Transportation is not included in the baggage allowance, and there is a fee of € 50 per transatlantic trip.
Pets in the Hold (AVIH)
The carriage of pets and empty cages is not accepted on St Barth Commuter flights. In case of connecting to/from long-haul flights, your pet will be checked through only if the connection time is less than 2 hours. If the connection time exceeds 2 hours, you, your baggage and your pet will be checked in at the connection point.
Air Caraibes accepts only healthy animals and doesn’t accept smelly animals and females in heat.
Wooden cages (chipboard or plywood) are not accepted for pet transportation. The cage must have appropriate dimensions that allow the animal or two animals to lie down, turn around and stand. Only on transatlantic flights, two adult animals, each weighing less than 14 kg, can travel in the same cage provided that they are accustomed to each other and of comparable size. Animals exceeding 14 kg must travel in separate cages. All animals that cannot be transported in a No5 or Ref 700 cage should be transported as cargo.
The maximum weight (pet plus cage) allowed for the transport of pets as checked baggage is:
- 75 kg on transatlantic flights.
- 50 kg on regional flights.
Transportation is not included in the baggage allowance, and there is a fee of:
- € 100 per transatlantic trip.
- Regular excess baggage fees on regional flights.
Guide Animals
Carriage of dogs accompanying blind or hearing-impaired passengers in the cabin is free of charge. The passenger must present a medical certificate. Air Caraibes reserves the right to refuse an Emotional Support Animal.
