FrWhen do I have to reserve a seat for my baby?
Children who are less than 2 years old at the time of making the trip on Air Inuit can travel free of charge if accompanied by a fare-paying passenger, at least 12 years of age with whom they share the seat. The infant must be kept in the parent’s or guardian’s lap during the whole flight, including all phases of it. One infant per adult passenger is permitted.
You may reserve an adjacent seat for a baby aged under 2 years when you want to use a car seat on board the aircraft. To increase the safety during all flight, passengers are allowed to carry and utilize an approved restraint system for the infant at no additional cost. When a separate seat is reserved for an infant, the child fare applies.
Children aged 2 years and older must occupy their own seat on board the aircraft.
Does Air Inuit offer discounts for infants and children?
Infants travel free of charge when held on lap.
The child fare offered by Air Inuit for children aged 2 to 12 years old and infants with a reserved seat is 50% of the Flex Fare (YCH fare).
Infant Restraint Devices
Infants occupying a seat should be placed in an approved infant restraint device, subject to the following conditions:
- The child must be appropriately secured in an infant safety device manufactured on or after January 1st, 1991, which displays an inspection sticker CMVSS 213.1, or CMVSS-213, if is made in Canada, or an inspection sticker FMVSS-213, if is made in the United States, or, irrespective of the country of production, any inspection sticker indicating that the child seat is certified for use onboard an aircraft.
- The instructions for the appropriate use of the device and its stature and weight capacities should also be obviously displayed on the seat. The use of the device might be banned if, in the judgment of the airline’s personnel, a baby exceeds the approved capacity limits.
- The device must at all times be correctly secured in a seat right next to an accompanying adult; this person should be familiar with the right method of releasing the child away from the safety seat device. This seat may not be placed:
- In an emergency exit seat or row.
- In a seat which would be blocking the access by a passenger to the aisle of the airplane, or
- In a seat that would avoid the access to safety or emergency equipment.
- The adult passenger who is traveling with the child must provide the seating device. The airline does not assume any responsibility for supplying certified child restraint devices defined above.
- The booking for the adjacent seat is required and must be reserved in the same service class as the reservation for the adult who is accompanying the child.
