What is Air Moldova policy on hand baggage?
Baggage taken in the passenger cabin is considered hand baggage. Every passenger is entitled to carry just one piece of hand baggage and, in addition, some personal items.
What is Air Moldova policy on checked baggage?
On Air Moldova flights, the checked baggage policy (free baggage allowance and excess baggage fees) is set by the Piece Concept – each piece of baggage is limited in weight and size. In case one piece of baggage weighs more than 32 kg, it must be repacked in two separate pieces of baggage or sent by cargo. For flights that involve other airlines, the MSC rule (Most Significant Carrier) shall apply to the free baggage allowance and excess baggage charges.
In case your itinerary includes connecting flights operated by partner airlines, you can request through checking for your baggage to the final destination. The baggage cannot be checked through to the final destination in the following situations:
- If the itinerary includes a transfer from one airport to another.
- If the itinerary includes a transfer to a domestic flight at the following airports: Moscow – Domodedovo, Istanbul – Ataturk (except flights from Kishinev/Chisinau with transfer to a domestic flight operated by Atlas Global), Sankt-Petersburg – Pulkovo.
- If the itinerary includes a transfer at one airport from Moscow, Sankt-Petersburg or Sochi to a final destination in the Republic of Belarus or Kazakhstan.
Hand Baggage
For the piece of hand baggage, the maximum weight is 8 kg, and its dimensions cannot exceed the maximum size of 115 cm (50 x 40 x 25 cm – dimensions including the wheels, handle, lateral pockets, etc.). For passengers’ comfort, safety and coziness, the hand baggage that exceeds these limits shall be registered as checked baggage.
Besides the hand baggage, passengers are allowed to carry some of the following items on board:
- All passengers, except infants up to 2 years:
- An overcoat, wrap or blanket.
- An umbrella or walking stick.
- A handbag.
- A video camera, camera or binoculars.
- A reasonable amount of reading material.
- A small musical instrument (e.g. violin, trumpet, etc.).
- Passengers with reduced mobility: a wheelchair, a pair of crutches or any other device that the passenger needs.
Checked baggage
On Air Moldova flights, the free baggage allowance is set as a limited number of standard pieces of baggage. One standard piece of checked baggage has a weight of maximum 23 kg and maximum dimensions of 158 cm (width + height + depth).

For Air Moldova Club members, holders of Prestige or Exclusive cards, a special baggage allowance of one additional standard piece applies for flights that involve routes operated only by Air Moldova.
Excess Baggage Fees
When determining the weight of a standard piece, the fractions within 23 and 24 kg will be disregarded. Only pieces of baggage of 24 kg will be considered as overweight pieces. The Piece Concept does not allow for the weight of pieces to be combined. Thus, each piece is considered as such and charged accordingly.
Pieces of baggage over 158 cm and over 23 kg shall be charged cumulatively (overweight fee + oversized fee + additional piece fee, if the piece is over the free baggage allowance).

Sporting Equipment
One set of sporting equipment (ski, snowboarding, golf, non-motorized bicycles, etc.) packed in one piece of baggage that doesn’t exceed the standard weight (max. 23 kg) will be considered as one piece of baggage regardless of the dimensions. In case the total weight exceeds the standard weight limit, then the excess baggage fees will apply.
Baggage Services
Passengers who do not get their luggage when arriving at the destination must address the agents at the Lost and Found or Lost Baggage offices. A document called PIR (Property Irregularity Report) is issued, and the reference number of the PIR can be used to check the status of the lost baggage.
