FrDo I need to reserve a seat for my baby when flying with Air North, Yukon’s Airline?
Up to his/her second birthday, you are not required to reserve a seat for your baby, but you can’t have more than one lap child with you (one infant per one fare-paying adult aged 16 years or older). As long as you have a proper restraint device, you can always choose to purchase a seat for your baby.
One adult can be responsible for only one infant, whether the infant is held on the lap or a seat has been purchased for the infant.
Should I pay for my infant when flying with Air North, Yukon’s Airline?
Infants, children under the age of two years sharing the seat with an adult, travel free of charge. Proof of age (in the form of a birth certificate or birth registry) must be provided.
If you choose to purchase a seat for your baby, you will pay the full fare (Air North, Yukon’s Airline doesn’t offer a discount for children). Also, whenever the fasten seatbelt sign is illuminated, your baby must be seated in a seat certified for motor vehicle or aircraft use according to Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 213 or 213.1, or other accepted international standards.
Traveling with Babies – Baggage and Amenities
An infant is entitled to a baggage allowance of two items – a car seat and a stroller as checked baggage. A playpen may be substituted for either the car seat or the stroller. The infant’s checked baggage items must fit within the baggage limits for the aircraft operating the route.
Air North, Yukon’s Airline does not carry any infant care products on board, and as such you are advised to carry on all infant care items you may require (e.g. a diaper bag). Boeing B737 400 and B737 500 aircraft are equipped with diaper-changing tables; however, the ATR 42 turboprops are not.
