What is Air North, Yukon’s Airline baggage policy?
When flying with Air North, Yukon’s Airline, each passenger (except infants without a separate seat) has a free baggage allowance. The baggage allowances, for both carry-on and checked baggage, depend on the route:
- Boeing 737 routes – flights South of Whitehorse (Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Yellowknife, Ottawa, Toronto).
- ATR 42 routes – flights North of Whitehorse (Dawson City, Old Crow, Inuvik)..
What is the baggage policy when connecting between Air North, Yukon’s Airline and Air Canada?
Only when connecting between Air North, Yukon’s Airline and a domestic Air Canada flight, the baggage policy of the airline that operates the first flight in the itinerary apply. If the first flight is with Air North, Yukon’s Airline, its baggage allowances and fees will apply through to the final domestic destination. If the first flight is operated by Air Canada, its baggage allowances and fees will apply through to the final domestic destination.
Also, Air North, Yukon’s Airline and Air Canada have an agreement to transfer baggage on same-day domestic flights. If you have a connection in Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Victoria, or Yellowknife between Air North, Yukon’s Airline and a domestic Air Canada flight, your baggage (except dangerous goods and pets) can be transferred between the airlines for you. For this to be possible, a minimum of two hours between flights and proof of travel (boarding pass or itinerary) for both airlines are required. However, neither airline can issue boarding passes for the other.

Sporting Equipment
On Air North, Yukon’s Airline flights, sporting items will be accepted as checked baggage. If in excess of the free baggage allowance in number or weight, excess baggage fees will apply. In addition, sporting equipment must comply with the size restrictions based on the aircraft operating the route. Fishing rods, football equipment, golf clubs, hockey/ringette/lacrosse equipment, and ski/snowboard equipment are exempt from oversized and overweight fees.
Bicycles packed in a bicycle box may not be substituted for a piece of checked baggage and are subject to a fee of $52.50 – $56.50, based on applicable taxes.
Canoes and kayaks count as one piece of baggage and must be pre-registered at the time of booking. The maximum dimensions accepted are 300 cm (116 in) long x 45 cm (18 in) wide x 76 cm (29 in) tall, and the maximum weight accepted is 23 kg (50 lbs).
