How can I travel with my pet on Air North, Yukon’s Airline flights?
With Air North, Yukon’s Airline, pets can travel in the passenger cabin or as checked baggage in a pressurized and temperature-controlled area of the aircraft.
How do I book my pet’s travel?
If you plan to travel with your pet, either as carry-on or checked baggage, to ensure space is reserved for your pet, you must contact by phone Air North’s reservations team prior to travel. If space is not reserved, Air North, Yukon’s Airline will accept pets for transportation on its flights on a first-come, first-served basis. When connecting from Air North, Yukon’s Airline to another airline, you must allow a minimum of 4 hours between flights, and it is your responsibility to arrange for any accommodations for the pet between flights. Air North does not transfer pets transported as checked baggage, not even when you connect to a same-day domestic Air Canada flight.
Although there are no embargo periods, Air North, Yukon’s Airline reduces the number of kennels allowed per flight during the busy Christmas holiday season to ensure the safety and comfort of all pets.
For transportation within Canada, there is no special documentation required for pets traveling in the cabin, and only a pet declaration form at the time of check-in is required for pets transported as checked baggage. All pets traveling, either as carry-on or checked baggage, must be at least 8 weeks old.
Pets as Carry-On
On Air North, Yukon’s Airline flights, dogs, cats, and rabbits may travel in the passenger cabin. - ATR 42 – 15 x 11 x 9 in.
- Must allow your pet to naturally stand and turn around.
- Must fit under the seat in front of you.

As per IATA rules and regulations, all live animals may travel via air, but all rules and regulations set out regarding live animal air travel must be met. Kennels over 34 inches in height and/or 165 lbs are not accepted.
