Do I really need to reserve a seat for my baby when flying with Aircalin?
On Aircalin flights, babies aged up to 2 years may be booked as infants and will not require a seat in this case. As long as you have an approved restraint device, you can always choose to purchase a seat for your baby.
Does Aircalin offer discounts for infants and children?
On the whole Aircalin’s network, babies under 2 years of age who travel on the lap of an adult can enjoy a discount of 90% on the adult tax-free fare. Each passenger aged over 18 is allowed to carry one infant on lap. The accompanying adult can be aged under 18 if he/she is the parent or legal guardian.
A second accompanying person will be needed in the case of 2 babies, or a seat will have to be purchased for the second infant, no matter the age. Bookings and fees for infants with a child restraint device are the same as applied to children.
For children (2 to 11 years), Aircalin offers a 25% discount on the adult fare. On flights in connection with Air France, departing France or New Caledonia, Air France fare conditions will apply, and children get a 33% discount on the adult fare.
Traveling with Infants
When traveling with an infant on lap, Aircalin puts at your disposal, free of charge, bassinets with a weight limit of 10 kg and a size limit of 70 cm. Booking a bassinet online is not possible, and you should contact Aircalin Reservation at the earliest before departure. Also, your baby can enjoy a special meal, tailored to its needs. Both services should be requested at least 24 hours before departure.
Free Baggage Allowance
On flights to/from Port Vila and Wallis, infants who do not occupy a seat have no free baggage allowance.
On all other flights, infants who do not occupy a seat have a baggage allowance that consists of 1 piece of baggage up to 10 kg plus 1 cradle or folding pushchair or safety seat. Strollers are not permitted in the passenger cabin.
Car Seats
Child restraint devices (car seats) that have an approval label are allowed onboard Aircalin aircraft, provided that they can be placed on a seat and fastened with the seat belt. The bottom of the seat must not exceed 41 cm width. If your car seat does not comply with these regulations, it may not be accepted at check-in or boarding gate.
