What is Allegiant Air’s policy on pet acceptance?
Allegiant Air only accepts pets in the cabin of the aircraft. Allegiant Air will not accept pets to be transported as checked baggage. Pets are accepted only on flights within the contiguous 48 United States.
Pets are not accepted on flights to/from Hawaii and U.S. territories.
Which pets are accepted on Allegiant Air flights?
Allegiant Air accepts only domestic cats and dogs in an FAA-approved soft-sided carrier. Allegiant Air requires no health certificate for pets.
Pets in the Cabin
You can add a pet when booking your flight online. You must check in at the airport ticket counter when you are traveling with a pet. The Airport Boarding Pass Print Out fee will be waived.
Your pet must be in a soft-sided FAA-approved kennel or carrier that fits under the seat. Allegiant Air permits no more than 2 pets per carrier, and pets need to be able to stand and turn inside the carrier. Pet carriers are subject to inspection before acceptance, the customer service agent determining if there is adequate room in the carrier for your pet or pets.
To fit under the seat, the pet carrier must not exceed external dimensions of 9 x 16 x 19 in (HxWxD). Passengers with a pet carrier may bring, free of charge, one personal item, which may be stored in the overhead bin space and does not exceed exterior dimensions of 7 in x 15 in x 16 in (17.8 cm x 38.1 cm x 40.6 cm). Passengers with a pet carrier who also bring a carry-on bag, which cannot exceed 9 in x 14 in x 22 in (22.9 cm x 35.6 cm x 55.9 cm) in exterior dimensions, will be charged accordingly for the carry-on bag.
Seating Restrictions
Since the carrier must fit under the seat, for safety reasons, passengers traveling with pet carriers may not be seated in bulkhead seats, exit rows, or rows immediately before or after an exit row. Allegiant Air allows only 1 pet carrier per side and a maximum of 2 pet carriers per row.
Fee
Allegiant Air charges a $50 fee per segment for each pet carrier in the cabin, which must be paid at the time of booking your reservation.
Service Animals
Service Animals used by an individual with a disability are allowed to accompany such individuals in the passenger cabin at no charge on Allegiant Air flights. Only dogs, regardless of breed or type, that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, intellectual, psychiatric, or other mental disability, are accepted as Service Animals. For travel with a fully trained Service Animal, Allegiant requires the submission of the U.S. DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form at least 48 hours before scheduled departure.
Trained Service Animals being delivered to the domicile of the animal’s owner and Service Animals in training will be accepted by Allegiant Air for transport on a case-by-case basis.
Allegiant Air permits passengers traveling with a Service Animal to seat wherever they prefer, as long as the Service Animal does not obstruct an aisle or other area that must remain unobstructed in order to facilitate an emergency evacuation. Service Animals are not allowed to occupy a seat.
Allegiant Air no longer accepts Emotional Support and Comfort Animals, effective January 2021.
