Asiana Airlines Baggage and Carry-on

What is Asiana policy on carry-on allowance?

On flights operated by Asiana Airlines, passengers are allowed to carry unchecked baggage in the cabin, free of charge which is limited by dimensions, number and weight. The carry-on baggage allowance may vary depending on the travel class.

What is Asiana policy on checked baggage allowances?

The free baggage allowance for Korean domestic flights is based on the Weight concept and is 20 kg (44 lbs) in Economy Class. On codeshare flights operated by Air Busan, the free baggage allowance is 15 kg per passenger. The free baggage allowance for international flights is applicable to Korean domestic flights connecting to Asiana international flights.

Asiana’s new baggage policy is based on the Piece Concept for all international routes (Americas and non-Americas routes).

In the case of connecting flights with a codeshare partner, the free baggage allowance applicable to the flights of other airlines may be different.

To prevent damage to the baggage and injury of baggage handling staff, the weight of a piece of baggage should not exceed 32 kg.

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger may carry, free of charge, hand baggage suitable for placing in the overhead bin or under the passenger’s seat, with the following weight and size limits per piece:

  • Maximum weight: 10 kg (22 lbs).
  • Maximum size: 115 cm (length + height + width, including handles or wheels).
  • Maximum dimensions: 40 cm (width), 20 cm (height), 55 cm (length).

In First & Business Class, passengers (adults and children) are allowed 2 pieces of carry-on baggage. In Economy Class, only one piece per passenger (adults and children) is allowed.

Carry-on baggage or items are allowed only on the condition that passengers should be responsible for taking care of them. In addition to the carry-on baggage one of the following articles may be carried:

  • Small suitcases, laptops, books, handbooks and small duty-free goods.
  • Baby food for in-flight use.
  • A stroller, small and foldable in a straight line, may be carried in the cabin only if storage space is available. If it is not, it may be handled as checked baggage.

An extra seat must be purchased to carry on large musical instruments for which the sum of their length, width, and depth exceeds 115 cm.

Free Baggage Allowance – International Flights

Free baggage allowances may vary according to the route and travel class. Asiana Airlines allows pooling of free baggage allowances when two or more passengers travel as one group by the same flight to a common destination or point of stopover. A total free baggage allowance equivalent to the combination of the individual baggage allowances shall be permitted upon request when the passengers present themselves at the same time and place to deliver their baggage to Asiana Airlines.

Asiana Airlines grants the following free baggage allowances to adults and children paying at least 50% of the adult fare:
