Sporting Equipment
Sporting equipment is considered as part of the normal free baggage allowance, regardless of its dimensions (the maximum dimensions of 158 cm may be disregarded), but provided that it does not exceed the other limits of the free baggage allowance (weight per piece and number of pieces). Due to its volume and weight, the number of sporting equipment is restricted, and Croatia Airlines requires to be pre-notified at the time of booking. The acceptance of items exceeding 32 kg and/or 158 cm requires pre-authorization from Croatia Airlines.
The transportation of sporting equipment that is packed separately is charged according to special tariffs if the free baggage allowance is exceeded. For this purpose, Croatia Airlines divides sporting equipment into two categories:
Sporting Equipment | Category* | Charge |
Golf, ski, snowboard, water ski, scuba diving, surfboard, wave board, kite surfboard, boogie board, bodyboard, wakeboard, bicycle, archery, fishing, weapons & ammunition, parachute, skateboard, tennis, squash, badminton, alpinism, hockey, inline skates, javelin, bowling | NORMAL Up to 32 kg Length up to 200 cm | Within Europe – EUR 50 Within Croatia – HRK 281.25** Intercontinental – EUR 100 |
Tandem bike, windsurf, longboard (exceeding 2 m), hang glider, canoe, kayak, rubber dinghy, vaulting pole, horse riding | BIG Over 32 kg Length 201 – 350 cm | Within Europe – EUR 100 Within Croatia – HRK 468.75** Intercontinental – EUR 200 |
*If your sporting equipment is listed as NORMAL but exceeds the maximum weight or size for this category, the BIG category charges will apply (e.g. if your kitesurfing equipment weighs 22 kg, but the board is 210 cm long, the charge for BIG sporting equipment applies, even though the kitesurfing equipment is listed as NORMAL, because it exceeds 200 cm in length). | ||
*VAT included. |
For sporting equipment not mentioned in the table above or packed in normal checked baggage (if it cannot be recognized as sporting equipment), the normal excess baggage charges apply.
