What are the general conditions for acceptance of pets on Croatia Airlines flights?
Pets are accepted for transportation provided that the Croatia Airlines rules and regulations are complied with. It is necessary to make a reservation in advance, and the carriage of pets is always charged additionally.
Croatia Airlines does not accept animals for carriage on flights from Croatia to the UK. Also, pets are accepted for carriage provided that it is not forbidden by the state where the pets are transported to. You must collect all the information about regulations of the country you are traveling to and make sure you possess the required documents.
Pets in the Passenger Cabin
Croatia Airlines allows only cats and dogs (accompanying a passenger) to be transported in the passenger cabin (as hand baggage). The pet must be transported in a proper container, big enough for the animal to be able to stand. The size of the container cannot exceed 115 cm. The maximum weight of the container with the pet is 8 kg.
Croatia Airlines accepts only one pet container per passenger and maximum two pets, two dogs or two cats, on the same flight (one dog and one cat cannot be accepted).
The fee for the transportation of pets in the passenger cabin is:
- 150 HRK + 25% VAT on domestic flights.
- EUR 50 / USD 60 / CAD 60 on international flights within Europe.
- EUR 70 / USD 100 / CAD 100 on international flights outside Europe.
Pets as Checked Baggage
Animals that, due to their size, cannot be transported in the passenger cabin can be transported in the baggage compartment if certain conditions are met. At the time of booking, you need to specify the weight of the animal, as well as the dimensions of the container. The container must be in accordance with IATA standard, and in one container can be transported:
- Maximum 2 adult animals up to 14 kg each and that are used to each other.
- Maximum 3 puppies or kittens up to 8 kg each and from the same litter.
Animals are not included in the free baggage allowance, and their transportation is charged depending on the size of the container and route:
