Can I travel with my pet on CSA Czech Airlines flights?
CSA Czech Airlines allows pets to travel in the passenger cabin (as cabin baggage) or in the hold (as checked baggage).
What are the general conditions for acceptance of pets on CSA Czech Airlines flights?
Animals can only be transported to countries where the regulations of that country permit it, and subject to the terms and conditions specified by that country. If you want to travel with a pet, you always need to make a booking in advance. The transportation of an animal can be refused due to a threatening infection in the country of origin or the animal’s poor state of health. Also, CSA Czech Airlines is entitled to request approval for carriage, or for the container used to transport the animal, from a veterinary service.
Pets in the Passenger Cabin
The only pets that are allowed to travel in the passenger cabin on CSA Czech Airlines flights are dogs and cats. Pets are accepted as hand baggage only subject to the following conditions:
- The pet must be transported in a special container.
- The maximum dimensions of the container – 43 x 30 x 27 cm (17 x 12 x 11 inches).
- The maximum weight of the container with the pet inside – 8 kg (17 lbs).
- You must report for check-in at least 60 minutes before your flight.
- Only three pets per flight – two in Economy Class and one in Business Class.
- Payment of an additional fee of EUR 60 / CZK 1620.
Pets as Checked Baggage
CSA Czech Airlines accepts only dogs, cats and ferrets as checked baggage (all other animals can be carried only as cargo). Pets are accepted for carriage as checked baggage subject to the following conditions:
- The carriage of pets in the hold is permitted only on flights to certain countries.
- The pet must be carried in a special container with a solid bottom and proper ventilation.
- The maximum dimensions of the container – 125 x 69 x 80 cm.
- You must report for check-in at least 60 minutes before your flight.
- The pet will be checked in when you check your other checked baggage, and CSA Czech Airlines staff will check:
- If the container complies with the regulations.
- If the animal has enough space in the container.
- If food and water, which can be added from the outside, are provided.
- The pet’s documents and health.
- Payment of an additional fee based the actual weight of the container:
- Up to 23 kg – CZK 1620 / EUR 60.
- 23-32 kg – CZK 3240 / EUR 120.
- 32-50 kg – CZK 4860 / EUR 180.
- Over 50 kg – CZK 6480 / EUR 240.
Service Animals
Service Animals (Guide Dogs accompanying sight, hearing or otherwise impaired passengers) will be carried free of charge and without a container in the passenger cabin. The dogs must wear a harness and leash. A muzzle is recommended, to be put on if necessary. A certificate that the dog is trained to assist disabled persons and required documents shall be available.
Emotional support dogs are transported as pets, in the passenger cabin or as checked baggage, subject to general conditions and fees for the carriage of pets.
