Does EVA Air have any restrictions for the acceptance of newborns?
Infants and small children under 2 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Newborns under 7 days are not considered strong enough for air travel and will not be accepted on EVA Air flights.
Does EVA Air offer discounts for infants and children?
EVA Air offers the usual discounts: the infant fare (7 days – 23 months) – 10% of the accompanying adult fare, and the child fare (2-12 years of age) – 75% of the applicable adult fare. Sometimes, specific fare rules may not permit the infant/child discount.
Infants who reach their second birthday must, in accordance with safety regulations, occupy their own seat, and the applicable child’s fare must be paid for all sectors flown after the child reaches two years of age.
For safety reasons, if an adult travels with two infants, one should sit on the lap, and the other must be able to sit in an extra seat using an approved car seat. The extra seat will be charged the same fare as children between 2-12 years of age and must be reserved through the Ticketing Department or a travel agency. Child Restraint Systems are not accepted in Royal Laurel Class (car seat, CARES).
Traveling with Babies
Baby bassinets, suitable for infants up to approximately 8 months of age, are available free of charge aboard all EVA Air aircraft. Passengers should inform EVA Air of the baby’s date of birth, height, and weight when making a reservation because, for security reasons, some height and weight limitations apply:
Aircraft | Bassinet Length | Bassinet Width | Weight Limit | Aircraft | Bassinet Length | Bassinet Width | Weight Limit |
A 321 | 70.8 cm | 29.8 cm | 14 kg | A333 B777 | 70.8 cm | 29.8 cm | 14 kg |
A332 | 76.8 cm | 28.3 cm | 14 kg | 77.8 cm | 34.9 cm | 16 kg | |
77.8 cm | 34.9 cm | 16 kg | B787 | 70.8 cm | 29.8 cm | 14 kg |
Requests for a bassinet, diapers, and infant meal must be made through the Reservation Department after the purchase of the ticket.
Baggage Allowance
Infants without a seat have a free baggage allowance of one piece of baggage with the same maximum weight and size as the free baggage allowance of the accompanying adult.
A bag with the infant’s items such as diapers, feeding bottles, and food for consumption during the flight cannot exceed 5 kg when carried on board.
For infants, a fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant carrying basket or car seat can be checked as baggage or accepted as carry-on in the passenger cabin subject to availability of space.
