Does EVA Air offer a special service for children traveling alone?
When children travel alone (not accompanied by an adult person or a family member over the age of 16), Eva Air applies the special Unaccompanied Minors procedure to ensure that they will have a safe trip.
What are the age requirements for the Unaccompanied Minors service?
Minors under 5 years of age (up to, but not including 5th birthday) will not be accepted for transportation unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult who is capable of looking after them during the trip.
Children aged 5 to 12 years will be accepted only as Unaccompanied Minors when traveling alone. All minors under the age of 12 will be considered Unaccompanied Minors even if they are traveling with other young flyers under the age of 16.
For children 12 years of age and over, who have not yet attained their majority according to the law of the country of origin, the special Unaccompanied Minor procedure can also be applied on special request from parents or an appointed guardian, or in case of doubt about the Minors ability to travel alone.
Unaccompanied Minors Service
Parents and guardians are requested to inform that they are booking a flight for an Unaccompanied Minor at the time they make the reservation, and parents also need to fill out an Unaccompanied Minor form, including local contacts at both departure and arrival pick-up points.
EVA Air will accept only one Unaccompanied Minor aged between 8 and 12 years in Business Class on each flight. If the itinerary includes a transfer or stopover of more than 4 hours, arrangements must be made in advance by the parent or guardian to provide an authorized person to meet or pick up the child upon arrival at the stopover or layover point and stay with the child until can be checked back in to continue the trip. If segments of the Unaccompanied Minor’s travel include other airlines, the parents should contact the other airlines for their specific procedures.
The applicable adult fare should be purchased for Unaccompanied Minors. A minor traveling alone should hold a UM Applicable Fare ticket or pay the difference to make up the UM charge. EVA Air will provide meal coupons to the Unaccompanied Minor.
