What is flydubai’s policy on hand baggage allowance?

flydubai allows passengers to take with them on board the aircraft a certain amount of baggage subject to weight and size restrictions:

Passengers traveling with an infant may carry 5 kg of hand baggage in addition to their hand baggage allowance.

Smart bags within the hand baggage allowance limits are accepted as hand baggage, provided that all requirements set by flydubai are met:

  • Advise the staff at check-in that you are traveling with a smart bag.
  • The lithium battery must be removable and not exceed the power rating of more than 100Wh (Li-ion) or 2g (Li-metal).
  • The smart bag must be powered off during the flight.

If you want to take a smart bag as checked baggage, you must advise the staff at check-in that you are traveling with a smart bag and remove the lithium battery that must not exceed the power rating of more than 100Wh (for Li-ion) or 2g (for Li-metal) and carry it in your hand baggage.

Excess Baggage

If you want to check in more than three pieces of checked baggage, extra pieces are accepted provided there’s space in the hold but are charged for the total weight at the per kilo rate, even if the total weight for all pieces is less than the allowance you purchased.

You can pre-purchase an additional baggage allowance if you want to check in more than the baggage allowance included in your fare. Up to 4 hours before your flight, you can pay in advance for an additional baggage allowance (up to 40 kg including the free baggage allowance, if any) and benefit of an up to 90% discount on airport charges

If you haven’t bought additional baggage allowance and you exceed your free baggage allowance, you’ll be charged a per kilo rate at the airport:

Sports Equipment

Acceptance of sports equipment is subject to available space on the flight, so you should notify flydubai at least 24 hours before departure

On flydubai flights, the charges and maximum dimensions permitted depend on the type of sports equipment:

  • Sports equipment up to 20 kg mentioned in the table below is subject to the corresponding size limits and fees.
  • Sports equipment not mentioned in the table is accepted as part of the checked baggage allowance and is subject to flydubai’s checked baggage policy (e.g., maximum weight and size per piece, excess baggage fees).

If the sports equipment exceeds the permitted allowance, excess baggage rates will apply. If the equipment exceeds the dimensions mentioned in the table, it might be accepted for carriage for an additional charge, but you should contact the flydubai Customer Centre.

Baggage Services

If your baggage is delayed or damaged, you must report it to the flydubai desk at the airport immediately. For delayed baggage, flydubai offers compensation in the form of a USD 50 voucher per day of delay, for a maximum of 3 days. If delayed baggage shows up within 5 days, you will be contacted to pick it up. If your bag is not found after 21 days, it is considered lost, and flydubai will pay to replace your bag and its contents up to the amount set by the Conditions of Carriage.

For damaged baggage, you need to file a damage claim within 7 days from the date you received your baggage so that flydubai pays for the bag to be repaired or replaced.
