Does Icelandair offer Unaccompanied Minor Service?
Up to 12 years old, children must be accompanied by an adult passenger (aged 12 years or older) having the same reservation status and capable of taking full responsibility for the child. However, if your child is younger than 12 years of age and has to travel alone, Icelandair offers you the possibility to book the Unaccompanied Minor Service for your kid.
Is the Unaccompanied Minor Service mandatory?
A child aged between 5 and 11 years (inclusive) can travel alone only as an Unaccompanied Minor. It is not possible to book a child traveling alone via the Internet. To make a reservation for an Unaccompanied Minor, you must contact Icelandair Reservations by phone. Unaccompanied Minors must be confirmed at least 3 days before the flight. A maximum of 4 Unaccompanied Minors may be carried on each Icelandair flight.
The Unaccompanied Minor service is also available, on an optional basis, for children between 12 and 15 years of age (inclusive).
Unaccompanied Minor Travel Guidelines
An Unaccompanied Minor form (available on Icelandair website) must be filled out and printed in four copies. Unaccompanied Minors must be accompanied at check-in by an adult guardian who must provide a photo ID. The child’s travel documents are placed in a special Icelandair wallet clearly visible on the child. On arrival at the destination, the Icelandair ground agent will check photo ID and contact information before releasing the child to the person designated in the child’s reservation documents.
