Does LATAM Airlines Brasil offer services for children traveling alone?
Children traveling alone (not accompanied by another passenger at least 18 years of age) are considered Unaccompanied Minors, for whom special assistance is required for the entire duration of the flight, including any stopovers, immigration and security control points. LATAM Brasil’s Unaccompanied Minor Service (UMNR) ensures that the child gets special attention and care for the entire duration of the journey.
Are there any age restrictions for children traveling alone on LATAM Airlines Brasil flights?
Children aged up to 8 years may not travel alone and must be accompanied by either one of their parents or their legal guardian or an adult at least 18 years old.
Children aged 8 to 11 years may travel alone only as Unaccompanied Minors, and the Unaccompanied Minor Service is mandatory.
Children aged 12 to 17 years may travel alone, and the Unaccompanied Minor Service is optional.
Unaccompanied Minor Service
To request the Unaccompanied Minor Service, parents must contact LATAM’s Contact Center or a Sales Office up to 48 hours before the flight departure time. It is important that you buy your child’s ticket only when the service has been confirmed.
For children aged 8 to 11 years, the Unaccompanied Minor Service is available only on direct flights.
For children aged 12 to 17 years, the Unaccompanied Minor Service is available on direct or connecting flights as long as they are operated by LATAM (LATAM Brasil and its subsidiary LATAM Paraguay, and LATAM Chile and its subsidiaries: LATAM Argentina, LATAM Colombia, LATAM Ecuador, LATAM Peru).
The Unaccompanied Minor Service is not available for codeshare flights, whether they are before or after the LATAM flight, if the stopover lasts more than 4 hours, or a change of airport is required for the connecting flight.
At the time of travel, the minor must present to the check-in desk accompanied by his/her guardian or parent who must complete the Unaccompanied Minor form. Unaccompanied Minors will be accompanied by a LATAM employee to the boarding gate where they will be the first to board. Unaccompanied Minors will be seated in the front area of the aircraft so that the flight crew can better look after them and will be the last to disembark.
