Is there a minimum age required for acceptance of babies on Oman Air flights?
Infants may not travel on Oman Air flights within the first 7 days of birth unless when traveling for emergency medical treatment with an approved Medical Certificate.
Does Oman Air offer discounts for children?
Children traveling on Oman Air flights benefit from discounted fares that depend on their age and how and where they are flying:
- Domestic flights:
- Infants (children under 2 years of age without a seat) – charged 10% of the fare.
- Children under 12 years of age – charged 50% of the fare.
- International flights:
- Infants (children under 2 years of age without a seat) – charged 20% of the fare.
- Children under 2 years of age with a seat – charged 75% of the fare.
- Children under 12 years of age – charged 75% of the fare.
Once an infant reaches 2 years of age, he/she will be considered as child. When an infant reaches 2 years of age on or before the return flight, a seat must be booked, and the applicable child fare charged for that portion of the itinerary.
Infants must be accompanied on all flights, in the same compartment, by an adult passenger. Only one infant is permitted per adult passenger.
Traveling with Babies
Passengers traveling with an infant can check in free of charge one extra piece of checked baggage up to 10 kg and may bring on board infant food for consumption during the flight and an infant carrying basket, carry cot or baby stroller.
Depending on the type of aircraft, bassinets may be available for infants. In order for Oman Air to be able to provide you with a bassinet for your infant, you should make a special request at the time of reservation.
Families are normally seated together, unless the check-in has been completed late, in which case seats may have already been assigned to other customers. Under such circumstances, the crew on board will assist you, but this would be subject to other passengers’ willingness to vacate the seat for you.
Apart from baby meal, Oman Air carries a limited stock of toys and games for children less than 5 years to keep its youngest passengers entertained during the flight.
