What is PNG Air policy on hand baggage?
PNG Air allows its passengers (except infants) to carry for free in the passenger cabin one bag that must fit under the seat in front of you or in the enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft.
What is PNG Air policy on checked baggage?
Passengers (except infants) are entitled to a free baggage allowance set by weight, i.e. a certain amount of checked baggage which is included in the fare for travel on PNG Air flights. No single piece of baggage may exceed 32 kg in weight. The total linear dimensions (i.e. length + width + height) of any item of baggage must not exceed 158 cm (62 in). Any piece exceeding the size or weight limit will not be accepted at check-in and must be transported as cargo.
Hand Baggage
You may take as hand baggage one bag subject to size and weight restrictions:
- 105 cm – maximum size (total dimensions measured by adding together the height, width and depth of the bag).
- 7 kg (15 lbs) – maximum weight.
If your hand baggage is larger than the maximum size or exceeds the maximum weight, you must check it in as checked baggage. You may not take on board more hand baggage than the class of service paid for allows.
Checked Baggage
Passengers (except infants) are allowed the following free baggage allowance on domestic Papua New Guinea flights:
Itinerary | Weight Allowance | Maximum Dimensions per Piece |
Domestic (only domestic flights) | 16 kg (35 lbs) in total | 158 cm (62 in) (length + width + height) |
International (domestic flights connecting to/from international flights operated by any other carrier) | 23 kg (50 lbs) in total* | |
*When connecting with an international flight, baggage may at times need to be transported on a different flight due to storage and weight limitations. |
On all flights, in addition to the above baggage allowances, the following items may be carried free of charge in the hold:
- Infant carrying basket.
- A fully collapsible wheelchair, motorized wheelchair (85 cm width, 130 cm height, 115 cm length) or mobility aid, subject to aircraft limitations and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Infant’s collapsible stroller/pram.
Excess Baggage
Baggage in excess of the free allowance will be accepted at a per kilo rate. At times, due to operational requirements, the excess baggage may not be carried on the same flight as the passenger. The baggage in excess is carried only to the airport specified on the PNG Air baggage tag, and the passenger is responsible for the collection of excess baggage and/or any other related delivery expenses.
Baggage Services
Any claim for loss of or damage to baggage must be made prior to leaving the airport area. Claims must be submitted to an PNG Air traffic officer/agent.
