Do I really need to reserve a seat for my baby when flying with Royal Jordanian?
Healthy newborn babies, provided not premature, are not allowed to travel within the first 7 days after birth. Babies may travel on Royal Jordanian flights only accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age. It is not necessary to reserve a separate seat for a child up to 2 years old. You may travel with your baby on your lap (infant) and benefit from Royal Jordanian’s special care services available on most flights.
Does Royal Jordanian offer discounts for infants?
Infants not requiring an individual seat will be charged at 10% of the available adult fare for the flight plus international taxes and any surcharges (taxes and surcharges are not discounted). Infants are kept safe during takeoff and landing through a seatbelt that attaches to an adult, keeping them comfortable and secure on the adult’s lap.
Passengers traveling with infants aged over 6 months or children aged up to 36 months will be able to use their own car seats if seats are available and provided the seat is certified for aircraft use. The car seat will be restrained in the aircraft seat by a normal aircraft lap strap. In order to use a car seat, an additional aircraft seat must be purchased at the appropriate fare (full fare or the child fare which is 75% of the available adult fare).
One adult may travel with two infants provided that one infant travels on the adult’s lap and the other infant has a child fare ticket and is able to sit upright without assistance in their own seat or travel in an approved car seat.
Traveling with Infants
On select flights, seats with bassinets are available, but their number is limited on board. Bassinets seats should be booked early as these are offered on a first come, first served basis.
In addition to their carry-on allowance, passengers traveling with infants are allowed baby food and other necessities for the flight, up to a maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lbs). Also, one fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant carrying basket or infant car seat may be carried in the passenger cabin subject space availability. Due to limited stowage space in the aircraft cabin, baby strollers/pushchairs may need to be checked in at the gate, free of charge and not counted toward the free baggage allowance.
Infants not requiring an individual seat, for whom the infant fare has been paid, are entitled to a free baggage allowance:
- To/from all destinations except North America: one piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 10 kg (22 lbs) and the sum of the 3 dimensions not exceeding 115 cm (45 inches).
- To/from North America: one piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50 lbs) and the sum of the 3 dimensions not exceeding 115 cm (45 inches).
When purchased in order to use a car seat on board, the child fare entitles the baby to the same baggage allowance as passengers paying full adult fare.
For infants, Royal Jordanian provides, upon request, recognized brands of baby food and pudding. Also, Royal Jordanian staff will help with the heating of food you bring onboard. For children, a kids’ meal, served in a special lunch box that children can keep, may be ordered up to 24 hours before departure. Children will also enjoy the specific in-flight entertainment programming, even the latest animated films coming out of Hollywood, movies, and video games on select flights.
