Does Saudi Arabian Airlines have any restrictions regarding babies?
Newborns can be accepted on Saudia flights after the first week of their birth. Babies of more than 48 hours age up to 7 days oldshall be accepted provided that a medical clearance stating that the baby is in a good health and does not need an incubator or medical oxygen is obtained.
Infants (under 2 years of age) and children (under 12 years of age) will be accepted for transportation when accompanied by a passenger at least 16 years of age.
Does Saudi Arabian Airlines offer discounts for babies and children?
On Saudi Arabian flights, one adult can escort only one infant. Infants aged between 8 days to 23 months inclusive cannot travel in their own seat and must sit on an adult’s lap. For infants sitting on an adult’s lap, Saudi Arabian Airlines offers up to 90% discount on the applicable fare.
If a passenger is traveling with more than one infant, the applicable child fare is charged for the second infant. If the infant reaches the age of 2 years prior to their return journey, the applicable child fare, taxes, fees and charges must be paid for that part of the journey.
As proof of age is required, the parent must present the infant’s valid travel document at the check-in counters and boarding gate.
Children aged 2 and more must have regular passenger tickets and occupy an individual passenger seat. The applicable child fare shall be charged. Children shall not be assigned exit row seats, and two children traveling on one seat is not allowed.
Traveling with Babies
Infants paying 10% of the fare have no hand baggage allowance. However, passengers traveling with infants may carry, free of charge and in addition to their hand baggage allowance, infant food for consumption during the flight and one infant carrying basket or one fully collapsible stroller. Baby strollers must be tagged at check-in.
On all domestic (except Economy Saver fare) and international flights, infants have a free checked baggage allowance of 1 piece up to 23 kg and 158 cm. Excess baggage is not allowed on infant tickets.
On each Saudi Arabian Airlines flight, the maximum number of infants is determined according to the number of decompression oxygen mask and availability of infant life vests. Infants shall be assigned only a seat where a supplementary oxygen mask is available. It is not permitted to place more than one infant in each occupied section of the row as there is only one additional oxygen mask in each section ( e.g. 3 adults plus one infant may occupy 3 seat section).
