What is SAS Scandinavian Airlines doing to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers?
Following the COVID19 outbreak, SAS has taken a series of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers onboard:
- SAS Travel Ready Center.
- Additional safety measures.
- Cancelation and rebooking options.
SAS Travel Ready Center
Due to the current situation, entry requirements may exist for your destination and/or transfer airport. Requirements may apply for your return flight even if you are a citizen or resident of that country. Entry and travel requirements may change on short notice. It is your responsibility to check the latest entry requirements due to COVID-19 for your destination. SAS partnered with healthcare service companies to ensure easy access to COVID-19 testing services at a discounted price. If you fail to comply with the entry requirements, you may be denied boarding or refused entry to your destination, and all costs connected to this will be covered by you.
To help its passengers, SAS offers SAS Travel Ready Center, a digital platform that allows you to get travel-ready from home. That means less queueing and stress at the airport. After you check the requirements that apply to your destination (including your transit airport), make sure to complete all the necessary requirements. You can upload the COVID-19 travel documents 72 hours before departure at the earliest. After that, SAS will review your uploaded documents and clear you for travel. Once SAS has approved your information, you are ready to check in online and retrieve your boarding pass.
Additional Safety Measures
SAS implemented several measures to ensure a safe journey for you and also offers recommendations to get yourself ready to travel:
- At the airport, SAS implemented extended cleaning procedures and updated the boarding procedure to facilitate social distancing. You can use Online Check-in to save time and help reduce contact at the airport.
- On board your flight, the air is kept clean using modern and highly efficient air filters. All Airbus and Boeing aircraft are equipped with HEPA filters capable of capturing up to 99.97% of microbes, like viruses and bacteria. The air on board is pressed down from the ceiling to the floor and exchanged every 2-3 minutes. All aircraft are cleaned and disinfected according to EASA regulations.
Face masks are no longer mandatory on board SAS flights, except for flights to/from China and Canada. When required, all passengers from 6 years of age (from 2 years of age on flights to/from Canada) must wear a face mask from boarding, during the entire flight, and at disembarking. SAS recommends you check the requirements of wearing a face mask at departure, transfer, and arrival airports.
Cancelation and Rebooking Options
SAS offers different ticket types so you can tailor your journey to your needs. The ticket options differ in flexibility to changes and refunds:
- A rebooking fee, starting from 600 DKK/NOK/SEK, applies to SAS Go Light, SAS Go Smart, and SAS Plus Smart tickets. Also, if the new flight is more expensive, you will have to pay the fare difference.
- If you decide not to travel and your flight is not canceled, you can apply for a refund according to your ticket rules. SAS Go Light and SAS Go Smart tickets are non-refundable (only taxes will be refunded). SAS Plus Smart and SAS Business Smart are refundable for a fee. All other tickets are refundable.
If your flight is canceled by SAS, you receive a full refund as a SAS Travel Voucher. If you don’t use the voucher before it expires, it is refundable.
