Does SpiceJet offer a special service for children traveling alone?

SpiceJet offers the Unaccompanied Minor service, under certain conditions and restrictions, for children 5 years of age and older who must travel unaccompanied by an adult.

Is the Unaccompanied Minor service mandatory on SpiceJet flights?

SpiceJet will accept children aged between 5 and 12 years traveling alone only as Unaccompanied Minors, and the Unaccompanied Minor service is mandatory for them.

Children aged between 12 and 18 years are considered Young Passengers and may travel alone, but cannot assume responsibility for a child less than 5 years old.

Unaccompanied Minor Service

At the departure airport, it is mandatory to produce photo identification for the child and to complete and sign the Unaccompanied Minor Form. Children traveling as an Unaccompanied Minor cannot use Web Check-in. Unaccompanied Minors should report at the airport check-in counter 2 hours before scheduled departure time to obtain the boarding pass. SpiceJet staff will escort the Unaccompanied Minor throughout the airport processes, and the in-flight personnel will keep a watchful eye on them.

At the destination, the Unaccompanied Minor will be handed over only to the authorized person specified in the Unaccompanied Minor Form, who is required to show identification and sign for the custody of the Unaccompanied Minor.

Fees

SpiceJet will charge the following Unaccompanied Minor Fee per sector for each Unaccompanied Minor:

  • Domestic flights – INR 1,500 each-way per Unaccompanied Minor.
  • International flights – INR 3,000 each-way per Unaccompanied Minor.
