Are children allowed to travel alone on SriLankan Airlines flights?
Up to 12 years of age, children must travel with an adult who is 18 years or older on the same reservation. Children under 12 years of age may travel alone, but acceptance of children as Unaccompanied Minors is subject to additional conditions and restrictions imposed by SriLankan Airlines.
What restrictions regarding age apply for children traveling alone on SriLankan Airlines flights?
Children aged 5 to 11 years of age may travel alone as Unaccompanied Minors.
Children aged 12 to 15 years of age are considered Young Passengers when traveling alone.
However, passengers aged 12 to 17 years are not allowed to accompany a child alone without a passenger who is 18 years or older. In such cases, both passengers are considered as Unaccompanied Minors, and the applicable adult fare applies for both.
Unaccompanied Minor Service
Acceptance of carriage of Unaccompanied Minors is subject to prior arrangement with SriLankan Airlines. On request, SriLankan Airlines provides assistance to Unaccompanied Minors. The request must be made at the time of booking, and the booking cannot be done online. To book a flight for an Unaccompanied Minor and further information about this service, you should contact SriLankan Airlines by phone.
Unaccompanied Minors cannot use Online Check-in and are required to present at the airport counter with all the legal travel documents, including passport, visa, health certificate, and other required documents, in order to check in.
There is no additional fee charged for the Unaccompanied Minor service, but the child will have to pay the full adult fare (the child discount is not applicable).
