Children aged 13 through 17 years may travel alone on domestic flights and are not required to purchase the Unaccompanied Minor Service. The Unaccompanied Minor Service may be purchased for any passenger between the ages of 13 and 17 by a responsible adult at least 18 years of age.

Unaccompanied Minor Service

Children under 13 years of age and at least 5 years of age are accepted on scheduled/charter non-stop segments only, and if the destination is within the 48 contiguous states, Alaska and San Juan, Puerto Rico. To book a flight for an Unaccompanied Minor, you must call Sun Country Reservations. Flights for Unaccompanied Minors may not be booked online.

Sun Country Airlines will not confirm itineraries for Unaccompanied Minors if the itinerary includes a down line connection. When the itinerary of the child has been booked in violation of this policy, and the Unaccompanied Minor checks in, the child may be denied boarding. When denied boarding occurs for reasons such as lack of proper travel documents, proof of age for Unaccompanied Minors, or notification of Unaccompanied Minor status, passengers may forfeit all money paid for unused itinerary and any other non-recoverable costs.

Unaccompanied Minors are not able to use Online Check-in and must check in with a Sun Country Airlines agent, at the airport ticket counter. To be accepted for transportation, the Unaccompanied Minor must be brought to the airport by a parent or responsible adult, no later than one hour prior to the scheduled departure. The parent/responsible adult must furnish Sun Country Airlines with satisfactory evidence that the child will be met by another parent or responsible adult upon deplaning at his/her destination. Also, he/she must remain with the Unaccompanied Minor until the child is enplaned and the aircraft is airborne.

Sun Country Airlines will assume no financial or guardianship responsibilities for unaccompanied children beyond those applicable to an adult passenger. Sun Country Airlines will relinquish all guardianship responsibility upon arrival when the child is met by the designated parent or responsible adult. The person greeting your child at the destination must bring photo identification, arrive early at the meeting area, and check with Sun Country ticket counter agents for a gate pass.

Fees

In addition to the ticket price, Sun Country Airlines charges a mandatory fee of $75 per family, per flight segment. This fee is payable by phone through the Reservations Department or at the airport at the time of check-in.

Unaccompanied Minors are exempt from the first bag fee, but, to qualify for the exemption, all required support information must have been entered in the passenger’s reservation and the Unaccompanied Minor Service fee paid.
