How soon after birth may I travel with my baby?
You may not travel with your baby until a week after he/she is born. Women are not accepted in TAROM flights in the first 7 days after the baby’s birth.
Does TAROM offer discounts for babies and children?
Reduced fares apply on certain routes, for certain types of passengers, including infants and children. The wrong statement of the age during booking automatically leads to booking cancellation.
Babies up to 2 years of age are considered infants and travel free of charge on all domestic flights. On international TAROM flights, infants traveling on the accompanying adult’s lap (without a separate seat) are entitled to a 90% discount of the adult fare. For infants traveling in their own seat, TAROM will apply the child discount (instead of the infant discount).
TAROM offers a child discount of 25% or 33% of the adult fare. This discount applies to children under 12 years old and infants traveling in their own seat.
Sometimes, the infant or child discount does not apply for some special fares (e.g., Superspecials, Autumn Offer) and/or booking classes (e.g., Economy – E, Business – I).
Traveling with Infants
Infants not occupying a seat are entitled to a free checked baggage allowance only, which consists of 1 piece of maximum 10 kg and 115 cm (the sum of the three dimensions) plus 1 collapsible stroller. The free checked baggage allowance of the infant cannot be combined with the free checked baggage allowance of the accompanying adult. The excess of the free checked baggage allowance given for the infant will result in the application of excess baggage fees.
Passengers traveling with babies can book their flight online, but the infant will not be entitled to his/her own seat and must be held on lap during the flight. If you want to reserve a separate seat for your baby, you should contact the closest TAROM agency for reservations. Either way, at the time of booking, you can order the infant or child menu, which are available only upon request.
