What restrictions apply for carriage of babies on TUI fly flights?
TUI fly Deutschland will not accept newborn infants up to the age of 7 days. Also, because carriage is restricted to 10% of the seats per flight, passengers flying with an infant must notify TUI fly in advance. Each adult at least 16 years of age may accompany only one infant.
Does TUI fly require to reserve a seat for an infant?
For children under the age of 2 years, which are considered infants, it is not required to reserve a seat. An infant is entitled to a seat only if you choose to book the infant as a child (no discount applies).
When infants travel on the lap of an adult passenger, TUI fly Deutschland offers a reduced infant fare. The infant fare will be offered based on the age of the respective child when travel commences. When you book a round-trip flight, TUI fly will consider the age of the child upon taking the return flight.
Infants
Infant Fare
Transportation of infants requires pre-registration. The infant fare applies for infants without a reserved seat on TUI fly flights (X3) as follows:
- International short-haul and medium-haul flights – EUR 15 one-way.
- International long-haul flights:
- Pure fare – EUR 60 one-way.
- Perfect fare – EUR 80 one-way.
Baggage
All children, including infants who do not have their own seat, are entitled to a free baggage allowance only if the fare purchased includes such an allowance. With a Perfect fare booking, infants are entitled to 20 kg of free baggage. With a Perfect fare booking and reservation of a Premium seat for a TUI fly long-haul flight, infants are entitled to 30 kg of free baggage.
Strollers, buggies, and car seats are transported for free. A travel cot for babies can be checked and is considered part of the entire baggage that can be carried by a passenger, but additional baggage charges may apply.
Children and Infants with Reserved Seats
Child Restraint Systems
The child’s own seat must be booked in order to use a child restraint system. The child restraint system is carried free of charge but must be provided by the accompanying passenger. On TUI fly aircraft (Boeing), depending on the approval requirements, child restraint systems can be used for children up to 6 years of age, inclusively. The child seat must fit on the aircraft seat, which is maximum 48 cm width and 38 cm depth.
The child restraint system must have TÜV-certification. TUI fly will accept child restraint systems that are certified as follows: US standard FMVSS No. 213, UN standard ECE – R44 -03 or later, and Transport Canada CMVSS 213/213.1. Child restraint systems must be registered at least two days before departure through the Service Centre. For the transportation and use of a child restraint system, a written confirmation (carriage authorization) from TUI fly is mandatory.
