Vietnam Airlines offers two self-check-in options to be used before or after arriving at the airport:
- Web Check-in.
- Kiosk Check-in.
- In-Town Check-in.
What is the latest check-in time at Vietnam Airlines check-in counters?
When flying with Vietnam Airlines, passengers should take into consideration the following times:
- Opening time of check-in counters:
- Domestic flights – 2 hours before STD (Scheduled Time of Departure).
- International flights from Vietnam – 3 hours before STD.
- International flights from outside of Vietnam – 2-3 hours before STD.
- Recommended time of arrival at the airport:
- Domestic flights – 60 minutes before STD.
- International flights – 120 minutes before STD.
- Closing time of check-in counters:
- Domestic flights – 40 minutes before STD.
- International flights, except from Europe – 50 minutes before STD.
- International flights from Europe – 60 minutes before STD (London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Frankfurt International Airport)
- Closing time of the boarding gate – 15 minutes before STD.
If you do not respect the check-in deadline, you won’t be able to travel on the flight. Depending on the fare conditions, failure to check in on time may also result in making your ticket invalid for travel or paying a change fee and/or fares difference for the new applicable fare. For both international and domestic flights, you should carry your traditional paper ticket or eTicket Receipt at all times.
Web Check-in
Web Check-in, a convenient service applicable for passengers who have confirmed booking and valid e-ticket, allows passengers to check in with any device connected to the Internet via Vietnam Airlines website. Web check-in is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour prior to the scheduled time of departure for flights operated by Vietnam Airlines departing from:

Web Check-in cannot be used by passengers who:
- Requested Special Needs (except for special meals).
- Are deportee, inadmissible.
- Travel with infants under 2 years.
- Travel on codeshare flights operated by other airlines.
Web Check-in can only be used for a maximum of 9 passengers at a time in the same reservation code. Passengers can choose to print the Online Boarding Pass or receive it via email/e-device. Vietnam Airlines staff at the Web Check-in Counter will check the Online Boarding Pass and stamp on it or change it to a traditional boarding pass. To verify their Online Boarding Pass, passengers must present at the Web Check-in Counter at least 15 minutes before the check-in deadline. If the verification is not completed in time, Vietnam Airlines will cancel the seat booked through Web Check-in.
Passengers who travel without checked baggage on domestic flights departing from Da Nang, HaNoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Ninh can skip the check-in counter and go straight to security.
Kiosk Check-in
Kiosk Check-in is available from 24 hours before departure at the following airports:
- Up to 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights:
- Da Nang – Da Nang International Airport (DAD).
- HaNoi – Noi Bai International Airport (HAN).
- Ho Chi Minh City – Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN).
- Nha Trang – Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR)
- Up to 70 minutes before departure for international flights:
- HaNoi – Noi Bai International Airport (HAN).
- Ho Chi Minh City – Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN).
- Frankfurt – Frankfurt International Airport (FRA).
- Fukuoka – Fukuoka Airport (FUK).
- Osaka – Kansai International Airport (KIX).
- Tokyo – Narita International Airport (NRT).
Kiosk Check-in is not available to passengers who:
- Require Business lounge service.
- Travel with infants under 2 years old.
- Are on Vietnam Airlines’ blacklist.
- Have an international payment card which must be verified.
- Travel in a group of 5 or more passengers.
- Requested Special Needs (except for special meals).
Seats selected during Kiosk Check-in can be changed at the check-in counter. Baggage, if any, can be checked in at the Web Check-in Counter. Passengers with only hand baggage departing from airports in Vietnam can proceed directly to the security/immigration area, without stopping by the check-in counter.
In-Town Check-in
In-Town Check-in is available for passengers traveling on domestic flights departing from HaNoi – Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) on the same day, up to 2 hours before the departure time. The service is not available for passengers who need special assistance, (e.g., children traveling alone, passengers who have purchased a cabin seat for baggage, passengers in a wheelchair, etc.).
In-Town Check-in allows passengers to obtain their boarding pass and drop off checked baggage for a fee (infants are exempt, VAT not included):
- Boarding pass – VND 30.000.
- Boarding pass and one piece of checked baggage – VND 60.000.
- Additional pieces of checked baggage – VND 45.000.
