Does Vietnam Airlines accept children traveling alone?
Vietnam Airlines offer special services for children aged from 2 years up to 18 years old when traveling alone:
- Accompanying Cabin Crew Service.
- Unaccompanied Minors Service.
When are children considered Unaccompanied Minors on Vietnam Airlines flights?
Unaccompanied Minors are considered children from 2 years up to 12 years old when traveling without or not in the same service class with a parent, guardian or adult who is authorized by the child’s parent or guardian.
Children from 12 years up to 18 years old can also be considered and travel as Unaccompanied Minors only if the Unaccompanied Minor Service is requested.
The age of the Unaccompanied Minor shall be calculated up to the departure day of the first flight.
Unaccompanied Minors
Unaccompanied Minors aged 2 to 6 years are accepted only in Economy class under the following conditions:
- Both the Unaccompanied Minors Service and the Accompanying Cabin Crew Service are mandatory and must be booked and paid in advance.
- One cabin crew member is allowed to accompany only one child up to 4 years of age or a group of maximum 2 Unaccompanied Minors aged between 4 and 6 years.
- The request for the services must be made 3 days prior to the day of departure for domestic flights and 5 days prior to the departure day for international flights
- Unaccompanied Minors pay the child fare as normal passengers, and the services shall be charged separately:
- Accompanying Cabin Crew Service – Vietnam Airlines’ market fare of the same class of service of the passenger.
- Unaccompanied Minors Service:
- VND 500,000 per domestic sector.
- USD 50 per international sector.
Unaccompanied Minors aged between 6 and 18 years, inclusively, are accepted on Vietnam Airlines flights under the following conditions:
- The Unaccompanied Minors Service is mandatory for children 6 to under 12 years of age and optional for children between 12 and 18 years of age.
- The Unaccompanied Minors Service must be requested 24 hours prior to estimated time of departure.
- The Accompanying Cabin Crew Service is not mandatory but may be requested.
- Unaccompanied Minors can be accepted in Business, Deluxe Economy and Economy class, but the total number of Unaccompanied Minors accepted for carriage in Business class must not exceed 10% of the Business class seating capacity.
- Unaccompanied Minors pay the fare as normal passengers, i.e. the child fare up to 12 years of age and the adult fare from 12 up to 18 years of age.
- Each service shall be charged separately:
- Unaccompanied Minors Service:
- VND 500,000 per domestic sector.
- USD 50 per international sector.
- Accompanying Cabin Crew Service, if requested – Vietnam Airlines’ market fare of the same class of service of the passenger.
