What is Xiamen Airlines’ baggage policy?
For its baggage policy, Xiamen Airlines adopts two concepts, which apply on different routes:
- Weight Concept – on domestic routes (within the People’s Republic of China).
- Piece Concept – on international and regional routes (including flights to/from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan).
What is the hand baggage allowance on Xiamen Airlines flights?
The hand baggage allowance depends on the concept that applies and travel class, as follows:
Hand Baggage Allowance
Baggage | Travel Class | Weight Concept | Piece Concept |
Number of Pieces | First | 2 | 2 |
Business & Economy | 1 | 1 | |
Maximum Dimensions per Piece | All classes | 55 x 40 x 20 cm
Maximum Weight per Piece | All classes | 5 kg (11 lbs) |
What is the checked baggage allowance on Xiamen Airlines flights?
On routes on which the Weight Concept applies, the free baggage allowance for each passenger (except infants) is:
- 40 kg in First Class.
- 30 kg in Business Class.
- 20 kg in Economy Class.
When the weight concept applies, each piece of checked baggage must not exceed 50 kg in weight and 40 x 60 x 100 cm in size. Baggage exceeding these limitations can be checked only with the consent of the airline.
On domestic segments that constitute part of an international itinerary, passengers are entitled to the free baggage allowance that applies to the international route.
For tickets issued on or after January 1, 2016, the Piece Concept applies on international and regional flights (including flights to/from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), as follows:
Checked Baggage Allowance – Piece Concept
Baggage | Flights | First | Business | Economy |

Mainland China ↔ Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan

Maximum Weight per Piece | All flights | 32 kg (70 lbs) | 32 kg (70 lbs) | 23 kg (50 lbs) |

* 2 pieces with a total weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs) – flights from Singapore or Taiwan to Mainland China (applies to one-way, round-trip and connecting flights), and flights between Mainland China and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Sabah), and between Fujian Province (Xiamen and Quanzhou) and Manila. |
Excess Baggage
When the Weight Concept applies, excess baggage charges must be paid if the total weight of the baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance. The rate for excess baggage charges is calculated per kg over the allowance based on 1.5% of the Economy Class full ticket price as of the date the excess baggage ticket is issued.
When the Piece Concept applies, the following excess baggage charges apply:
