I have very mixed feeling about the flight. First the American flight was late arriving at my airport, so we were rushed to get aboard to not be too late taking off. That's fine except once boarded we sat for 45 mins because the flight computer needed to be reset. First they tried a soft reboot, but that didn't resolve the issue we were told, so they had to do a hard reboot, turning the plane entirely off for 6-7 mins then restarting everything. Fortunately it worked and 10 mins later, we were up in the air. The plane and my seat were fine. Comfortable and had decent room both width and leg room. The young man sitting next to me was pretty tall and he could def have used a little more leg room. The flight attendants were very friendly. I would have given American better service rating, except for once we landed an hour late, we didn't even get to go directly to the LAX terminal. Instead we ended up at some small satellite terminal, had to wait for buses to pick us up and take us to the main terminal, making many passengers even more late and frantic to catch their connection flights. So there were definitely pros and cons to the flight and American airlines.

American offered an upgrade to first class for $90 so I had to jump on the offer. This was my first time flying on an American E175 and I came away completely impressed. The first class cabin was set up in a 1x2 seat arrangement. This was one of the NexGen models and it had what appeared to be pretty new. I am not a small man being 6’2” and a slight 350 pounds. The seat was completely wide enough and the legroom was substantial. I should have taken the first row which felt like looking across the Grand Canyon. The flight attendant was excellent and kept our drinks topped off. There was no meal on this 2 1/2 hour flight which was a bit odd considering it was a 7:12AM flight. I would definitely pay to upgrade if given the upgrade offer in the future.

The aircraft was very new and clean inside with comfortable leather seats. I really enjoyed the adjustable upper head rest which made it easier to fall asleep. The cabin was relatively quiet in comparison to older aircraft models. My only complaint was the size of the overhead bins, it was a little difficult to fit a normal regulation size carry on into the smaller than normal compartment. I would love to fly on this model and type plane again in the future.

As airline seats go this one was pretty good. It is a single seat whereas the seats across the aisle are doubled. If you like not being right next to someone this works fine. 1A also has plenty of legroom. The only detractor is the overhead luggage com party on first class for the left side of the aircraft is ridiculously small.
