General presentation
There are 4 A340s in the TAP fleet which have a total seating capacity of 274-280 passengers in a two class configuration. This plane cruises at a speed of 920kph, at an altitude of 12000m and has a range of 13000km.
The seating configuration for this plane is variable with 36-42 passengers in Executive class and 238-242 in Economy. The details given on the TAP Portugal page contradict themselves! The layout shown here is of 36 business class seats and 238 economy class seats.
In Top Executive Class on A340s and A310s, passengers can enjoy the comfort of the new seats, choose to watch between 7 (A310) and 20 (A340) channels on their individual screens or connect their portables to the power points and catch up on some work.
Economy class passengers on board the A340 can relax while the little ones listen to the special children’s songs channel.

Some years since I flew this route with TAP, BA, Air France and Iberia having offered better fares. Boarding at Lisbon was third world chaotic. The aircraft interior showed its age and was in need of serious refurbishment. The footrest was broken and the cover lying on the floor when I boarded, this an aircraft leaving its home operating and maintenance base. The seat cushion was non existent and I used the blanket as a cushion! In flight entertainment was of three decades ago and I doubt that the safety information that it was used for would satisfy today's legal requirements. However, the flight kept good time. The food was probably better than that on other airlines I have used. I would have appreciated the offer of a drink during the long night flight. Other airlines manage this much better. Altogether a forgetable experience. I hope that the flight back on a 332 is a better experience!

This plane is getting old. Being at the bulkhead the seat is having enough legroom. This being the old 20th century business class seats the levels of privacy from neighbor is nihil,
This is an agled flat which is short if you are 6' + and you tend to slide down. IFE screens are on the bulkhead ad small. The software is more recent with selection of movies being adequat Service is not Business Class worthy. Moving around with a trolley to serve food from trays is very 20th century BC. The quality of the food and presentation does not come close to others. A filet mignon served well well done? Staff is not attentive to their guest, even after 4 times answering in english they address you in portugues.

The seat plan to the left is wrong. The exit row seat is 27 (not 26). Good leg room. Service is very basic, like most airlines in Economy these days. Flight attendant forgot to serve any drink in my row during breakfast, I had to use the call button. Flight not remarkable. ------ This is Francisco from Seatmaestro. We double-checked the accuracy of the seat map and we guarantee that it is correct. Thanks for the information and the review.
